The Rapid City Arts Council is please to present An Evening with Stephen Tobolowsky at the Dahl Arts Center on Tuesday September 26 from 7 - 9pm. Tobolowsky will give a talk followed by Q&A, as well as signing copies of his new book, My Adventures with God.
You may not know Stephen Tobolowsky by name, but we’d bet you know his face. He has appeared in over 100 movies and over 200 television shows in his career – from the Oscar/Emmy-worthy (Mississippi Burning, Thelma and Louise, Deadwood and Glee) to the comedy classic Groundhog Day, to current pop-culture hits Silicon Valley and The Goldbergs. In addition to being a legendary character actor, Tobolowsky is the consummate storyteller – warm, funny, engaging and profound. He first showcased his skills in the popular podcast The Tobolowsky Files; then in his first book, The Dangerous Animals Club (“Hilarious,” “Disarming,” “Warped and wonderful”); and has since developed a cult following, appearing at theaters around the world.
Now, Tobolowsky returns to the written word with My Adventures with God (Simon & Schuster; hardcover; April 18, 2017), a funny, introspective story collection about love, catastrophe and triumph, that, in turn, describe his evolving relationship with the mystery that we call “God.” As Tobolowsky explains, “It’s hard to believe in nothing. Even cats believe in suppertime. As much as we love certainty, we are often shaped by the invisible, the unexplainable - something we call faith. We are inclined to acknowledge the holy. Even if it is only a paper heart we find in an old suitcase.”
Tickets can be purchase online at thedahl.org/tickets, by phone 605-394-4101 x200 or in person at the Dahl Arts Center.
