An Exhibit of Minimalist Collage Constructions by artist E.K. Wimmer

Dahl Arts Center - Rapid City Arts Council, Rapid City, SD Category: Arts, Antiques, Crafts

The Rapid City Arts Council is pleased to bring you The Path of Destruction, opening on December 22 and on display until March 31, 2018. The show will be on display in the Lobby Gallery at the Dahl Arts Center in downtown Rapid City.

The Path of Destruction is a collection of collages that were created within the span of a single year. They share similar sociological subject matter like dissolving friendships, abandonment and depression as revealed through a Neo-Surrealist/Dadaist style. Executed through minimalist compositions, this exhibit surveys the adverse effects of isolation, introversion and paranoia. This exhibit will feature 15 of Wimmer’s collage pieces and will be displayed in our prominent Lobby Gallery.

E.K. Wimmer is a multi-media artist and curator currently serving as Curator of Art for the Nicolaysen Art Museum in Casper, Wyoming. He was born in New York, was raised in New Mexico and has lived throughout the West. E.K. studied photography at Eastern New Mexico University and Art History at the University of Montana. He received his MA from the School of Art and Art History at the University of Denver. In addition to collage and photography, E.K. works in other disciplines including video installation, painting, film composition and printmaking.
