Art students from Rapid City Area Middle Schools will share their artistic talents in the Middle School Art Exhibit in the Bruce H. Lien Cultural Café & Gallery at the Dahl Arts Center, March 2 - 30, 2018.
This annual community exhibition is an eclectic, colorful array of work by talented and creative local middle school students. The opening reception will take place at the Dahl Arts Center’s Bruce H. Lien Cultural Café & Gallery on Thursday, March 8 from 5 - 7pm. Students, parents, educators and friends are encouraged to attend and celebrate Youth Arts Month.
Area middle school students have been exploring both two- and three-dimensional media, creating artwork that includes drawing, painting, printmaking, clay and sculpture.
Art classes give students real opportunities to express themselves, to be active learners and to engage in authentic activities with real products as the result of their effort. With their teachers providing encouragement, tools, knowledge and individual attention, these students have discovered new realms of creativity and accomplishment.
Youth Arts Month (YAM) is an annual observance in March to emphasize the value of art and arts education for all children and to encourage public support for quality school art programs.
